ERANAN 〇FUJI STORY

The story of ERANAN Guitars goes back to the time when I was working as an employee at Ishibashi Musical Instruments in Ochanomizu, Tokyo.

At that time, Ishibashi Musical Instruments (Ishibashi Gakki) had a specialized store dedicated to guitar parts, as well as a department specializing in instrument repair.

Through my work there, I gained extensive experience in selling guitar parts and working with musicians and instruments. I used that experience to launch my own original guitar brand, ERANAN, within Ishibashi Musical Instruments.

Meeting Shigeru Narumo

One of the most important chapters in the history of ERANAN began with a small guitar part called the Siegel Lock, a locking nut that we developed together with GOTOH, a Japanese parts manufacturer based in Takasaki, Gunma.

Something unexpected happened because the name “Siegel Lock” was associated with the name of the well-known Japanese guitarist Shigeru Narumo.

Many customers sent letters to Shigeru Narumo's radio program, Purple Express, asking questions about the Siegel Lock. Through those letters, Narumo-san learned about me and the work I was doing in the parts section of a musical instrument store.

From that point on, Shigeru Narumo began supporting me, even though I was still simply an employee working in the parts department of a musical instrument store.

We eventually created a custom ERANAN guitar for him, featuring his signature specifications and a 314 mm scale.

Meeting Shigeru Narumo became one of the most important moments in my life as a guitar maker and is an essential part of the ERANAN story.

Independence at 23 — Monster Productions

At the age of 23, I became independent.

I established Monster Productions in Kawaguchi, Saitama, where I began working in music promotion, live-house management, and musical instrument importing.

When the Kawaguchi MONSTER live house opened, Shigeru Narumo and ANTHEM came to support the opening with a speech and a live performance.

ERANAN was never simply a guitar brand.

It grew through encounters with musicians, live performances, guitar building, and the many experiences I had while working in the music industry.

Meeting Many Great Guitarists

Over the years, ERANAN guitars have been made for and used by many remarkable musicians.

These include Michael Schenker (MSG), for whom we made a snakeskin Flying V, as well as Kurt James (STELLER, Dr. Mastermind), Hisashi Takai (X, before X JAPAN), Ami, Shingo Otani (ROMMEL, now UNITED), KUNI, KUMA, TAMA (now Musette Japan), Taiji Fujimoto (DTR, DANCER), Yasumitsu Shimizu (BABYLON, HELLEN), the late Yuji “YOU” Adachi (DEAD END), Raven Otani(MARINO),Shoichi Tomomori (Kyosuke Himuro, REBECCA), Norio Toshiro (ZIGGY), Kazuya Yoshii, Yoichi Hirose,(Yellow Monkey) OKAHIRO, Hakkai (Uchoten), TAKIZO (Nasty Habits), and many other guitarists and musicians.

Each encounter became part of the history of ERANAN.

A Memory with JAMES BROWN

At KUNI's performance at the Showa Base in Antarctica, I was introduced to members of the JAMES BROWN BAND through KUMA, who was working with us at the time.

That connection eventually led to us making ERANAN guitars for members of the James Brown Band.

I also had the unforgettable experience of taking a photograph backstage together with JAMES BROWN himself.

JAMES BROWN, KURT JAMES, Michael Schenker, KUNI, KUMA, and several other musicians connected with ERANAN also appeared in Ishibashi Musical Instruments advertisements during the 1980s.

Their photographs can still be found today in old magazines, advertisements, and music publications from that era.

And the Story Continues

The story of ERANAN continues to this day.

Many guitarists and musicians who have been part of this history are still active in music.

Some have kindly sent us photographs, while others have shown us the actual guitars they have used over the years.

Here, I will gradually introduce the musicians I have met, the guitars we created, and the photographs and historical materials I have collected along the way.

The people, the music, and the guitars I encountered through ERANAN are all precious parts of my journey.

『ERANAN 〇ふじ STORY』

ERANANの原点は、私がまだお茶の水の「イシバシ楽器店」で10代の頃、社員として働いていた頃にさかのぼります。

当時のイシバシ楽器には、パーツを専門に扱う「石橋楽器パーツ専門店」や、リペアを専門とする部署がありました。

私はそこでパーツの販売や楽器に関するさまざまな仕事を経験し、その経験を生かして、イシバシ楽器店の中でオリジナルギターブランド「ERANAN」を立ち上げました。

自分が関係するもの、プロデュースしたギターのロゴには〇ふじマークを入れていました。

『成毛滋さんとの出会い』

ERANANでは、ナットパーツとして「シーゲルロック」というロックナットを、群馬県高崎市のパーツメーカーであるGOTOHと共同開発し、販売していました。

そんなある日、「シーゲルロック」という名前が、当時の人気ギタリスト・成毛滋（Dr.Siegel）さんの名前と重なったことから、思わぬ出来事が起こります。

お客様から成毛滋さんの文化放送ラジオ番組「パープルエクスプレス」宛に、シーゲルロックについての質問葉書がたくさん届いたことがきっかけとなり、成毛滋さんが、パーツコーナーで働いていた私の活動を知ってくださったのです。（YOUNG GUITAR誌でオリジナルGUITARを作ろう、連載中、成毛さんも登場）

そして成毛滋さんは、まだ一楽器店の社員だった私を応援してくださるようになりました。

その後、ERANANでは成毛滋さんのシグネチャーモデルとして、314スケールのカスタムギターも製作しました。オリジナル弦も開発。

私にとって、成毛滋さんとの出会いは、ERANANの歴史を語る上で欠かすことのできない大切な出来事です。

『23歳で独立、Monster Productionsへ』

その後、私は23歳で独立。

埼玉県川口市に「Monster Productions」を設立し、プロモーター、ライブハウス運営、楽器の輸入など、音楽に関わるさまざまな仕事を始めました。

そして、川口MONSTERのライブハウス・オープニングでは、成毛滋さんとANTHEMが、挨拶と演奏で駆けつけてくれました。

ERANANは、単なるギターブランドではありませんでした。

ミュージシャンとの出会い、ライブ、楽器の製作、そして音楽業界でのさまざまな経験の中から、少しずつその歴史を築いていきました。

『多くのギタリストとの出会い』

ERANANでは、これまで数多くのミュージシャンのためにギターを製作してきました。

マイケル・シェンカー（MSG）の蛇皮仕様のFlying Vをはじめ、アメリカのKURT JAMES（STELLER、Dr. Mastermind）、高井寿さん（X JAPAN以前のXのギタリスト）、アミちゃん、大谷慎吾さん（ROMMEL、現UNITED）、KUNI、KUMA、TAMA（現ミュゼットジャパン）、藤本泰司さん（DTR、DANCER）、清水保光さん（BABYLON、HELLEN）、故・足立“YOU”祐二さん（DEAD END）、友森昭一さん（氷室京介、REBECCA）、戸城憲夫さん（ZIGGY）、吉井和哉さん、廣瀬洋一さん、OKAHIROさん、はっかいさん（有頂天）、大谷レイブンさん（MARINO)、TAKIZOさん（Nasty Habits）など、多くのギタリストやミュージシャンとのつながりが生まれました。
